Wedding Photography in Ireland
Sally and I had the great pleasure of spending the weekend at the fabulous Station House Hotel, in Kilmessan, Ireland for the wedding of our good friends Catriona and Neil. Performing the job of wedding photographer for friends may bring a bit of added pressure, but it also has the advantage that we get to spend a lot more time with the happy couple during the whole day than we would as guests. This was a really beautiful wedding. The venue is a former railway station, set in 12 acres of manicured gardens and woodland. The outdoor ceremony was held in what was once a train turntable in a clearing in the woods, which makes a magical setting for a wedding. The weather was also perfect.
There are plenty of great photo opportunities in the grounds of the hotel, but we also had access to the nearby ruins of Bective Abbey for some shots of the bride and groom after they’d had a short ride in a Rolls Royce. Afterwards, it was back to the hotel for the wedding breakfast in another converted historic railway building. Being guests as well as wedding photographers, we joined more friends for the meal and partied into the early hours to the sounds of the excellent wedding band, The Vinyls.
Here are some highlights from a really special day.
